Key Opinion Leader - Merz Aesthetics
Dr Stephen Lowe is a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and clinical trainer for Merz Aesthetics, and a cosmetic physician based in Sydney, recognised for his expertise in aesthetic medicine and his contribution to advancing safe, evidence-based clinical practice.
In this role, Dr Lowe is actively involved in the education and development of doctors and nurses, delivering training across both foundational and advanced treatment techniques. His teaching focuses on anatomical precision, patient selection, and the considered use of combination approaches to support natural, long-term outcomes.
His clinical work places particular emphasis on structural support and regenerative approaches to facial ageing, including dermal volumisation and collagen-stimulating treatments. These strategies are integrated within broader treatment plans that consider skin quality, facial balance, and long-term tissue behaviour.
He is a founding member of the Merz Sapphire Academy of Clinical Trainers, a select group of educators responsible for shaping clinical standards and training frameworks within the Merz network. Through this role, he contributes to both group education and personalised training, including one-on-one mentorship within Merz Training Villages and Academies.
Dr Lowe is regularly invited to lecture at national and international conferences, presenting on treatment strategy, clinical outcomes, and evolving approaches within aesthetic medicine. His work reflects a strong emphasis on safety, consistency, and clinical reasoning—particularly in more complex or advanced cases.
Beyond formal education, he provides ongoing clinical support to practitioners, including guidance in the management of complications and the refinement of treatment approaches. This level of involvement reflects peer recognition of his judgement and experience.
His collaboration with Merz Aesthetics aligns with a shared commitment to research, innovation, and patient safety. Within his clinical practice at Muse in Sydney, these principles underpin a measured and individualised approach, where treatment decisions are guided by evidence, anatomy, and long-term outcomes rather than short-term trends.
This work forms part of a broader approach to aesthetic medicine, where structural support, skin quality, and tissue behaviour are considered together, rather than as isolated treatments.
